FYI the above link takes you to a previous post on this thread.
Am currently in the process of getting these scales on this one too! Really pleased with how the wood turned out, it's Blackbutt.

Thanked: 1Hi guys,
I guess I have joined this illustrious group. I am the proud owner of a Bengall 6/8. I'll put a pic up tonight.

IS THIS NORMAL?
The heel on this razor looks funky to me; is this normal, or has someone removed a chip?
When you are dead, you don't know that you are dead. It's difficult only for the others.
It's the same when you are stupid.

I'm not pro, but it does look like a chip has been ground out, personally I'd have curved it all the way around...

Three superb razors
Two 13/16 and an 11/16. I know they sold them as 3/4 and 5/8 but that's what they measure. I just gave this trio a touch-up on the Shapton Pro 12k this afternoon and I realized they are among my favourite blades. I know it's a big call, and maybe I haven't tried enough modern razors, but I think the Bengalls of this vintage (1910-1940) are the best shavers I've ever used. It's not just the edge; it's what I would like to call "handling". By this I mean a combination of balance in the hand and a sharp, yet very smooth edge, combining to give one hell of a shave!
