I think the synthetic wedge puts it after the First World War and the "Ld" puts it after the early twenties. Just when they used "Hand forged" is not clear but I think it's likely to have been in the 30s or even the 40s. In those decades the Gillette company was aggressively marketing in England and started to carve a significant market share, to the detriment of the old Sheffield cutlers like Cadmans. Saying that your product is hand forged is an appeal to respect for craftsmanship; an appeal that failed as the ease of use of the safety razor gradually won over most men. The Sheffield firms had beaten off the challenge from Solingen in the British market but ultimately failed against innovation from America.
