Did that first one come stock with the thumb and finger notches, or was that done afterwords? I've been meaning to ask if that's something any of the forum members can do, because I've been tossing around the idea of having a blade notched.

That's original. They're pretty rare though. I have that and another different type of blade but it hasn't been restored yet. It could probably be done on a hardened blade with the right equipment, but personally I would guess it to be more trouble than it's worth.
