Got this razor as part of a lot of three I bought because of a Heljestrand No.4. I was pleasantly surprised to find the other to be an ivory scaled Klas Törnblom Söderfors Specialstål and this Bengall wedge.

Scales are original faux-tortoise horn, but broken. The steel is in a fine condition with little hone wear and just a few light spots and watermarks on an otherwise clean, mirror finished blade. This is how I got it; haven't done anything other than wiping it with a cloth:

Cool, I have that exact same razor and I agree out of the wedges I own, it's the closest one to a "true wedge" I've seen. Incidentally, I'd like anyone to post about any "true wedges" they may own. I don't think there are any; or, if there are, they're beyond rare.

My Bengall has a mirror finish as well. I took mine out recently and it's in line for honing since I've yet to hone it up since I've owned it.

Ok, just so we're on the same page, a "true wedge" in my book would be a razor when honed that contacts the hone from edge to spine and completely in between on both sides of the razor. So really, no "grind" or hollowing of any kind. I'm talking literally here.

The Bengall I have and referenced above LOOKS like a "true wedge". It looks like a pure triangle when viewed head on. A few test passes show that it has an extremely light grind, but a grind nonetheless.

    Default First wedge

I posted this in the general razor section as well, but have not had much luck with identifying it. Can't find out much about this one. 6/8, no jimps, medium length tail. I think that I can see something like "GOOD" or "WOOD" with an "&" on the first line, and WILL SHAVE WELL on the second. Has a very slight grind, but pretty close to a true wedge. Got it for a song. Any info? All you wedge experts, time to chime in!

    True or False:

Gugi sent me a razor that contacts the hone from spine to edge. In fact, I think it may be a slightly convex grind by now after the wear it has received through the years and the attempts to hone it via taping

Sh!t Chris you are right as well, upon further inspection it is obvious my JR+Sons has just the slightest grind, I didnt notice before as I just started working on it. Mmm I wonder just how many true wedges there are out there?

Heres the Jolly Rodger now its done, I posted more pics in the gallery if anyone is interested. It gives me the best shaves I have ever had.
