Oh boy. How did I forget?
I must be losing my mind.

There are some stunning ducks in this thread! I will be joining the party soon, I have a Satin wedge on the way.

Under the radar on the 'bay and both cleaned quickly and honed fast on a dark Thuringian. Both shave very well.

That's how I like to find em Geez. Nice hair removal tools!
A question for the duck dynasty. Picked up a fairly nice goldedge recently, little to no hone wear, gold wash mostly gone...... scales warped. Seller forgot to mention that, no surprises there. No sign of cell rot. Is there a method to straighten the scales?
They may be great shavers, but both my dublduck razors have had scale issues.
This is how I sorted my set of warped scales on my Goldedge Greame, I cut a thin piece of brass then made a small wedge of hardwood the same size and the same profile as the inner scales dipped my scales in a glass jug filled with hot water when they were heated enough i inserted the wedge and clamped it work a treat.

Thanks Jamie, looks like a plan. Must be a common problem with them if that had warped scales, NOS no doubt.
Nice idea to get those scales straightened out! I finally gave up and unpinned the blade to get my last set fixed up...
Celticcrusader gave you good advice. Just be cautious with the heat or I should say the amount of heat. They get supple easy enough and heat is a relative term. Too much and you may do more damage than good. Although the pearl type scales are slightly different than regular celluloid they pretty much suffer the same damage from heat and moisture. Read up on cell rot and proceed with caution. Not trying to scare you just trying to avoid seeing the post "OOoopps they shrank" :<0)
Also note that the pearl scales are made of 2 pieces. The outer pearl is a thin layer over another solid color piece. If you sand the edges for any reason they will turn white very quickly. Just thought I would throw that in there for anybody following along .
Thanks 10pups, it is as though 1 side has shrunk more than the other.
