What you have needs more than a hone but it will shave again. The stabilizer will probably have to be raised some after you get that chip out so it doesn't hit the hone. You saved some in the purchase but will spend some on the restore to shave. Careful cleaning the gold parts. It wipes off very easy with regular use let alone a chemical bath :<0) Congrats !

That's good to hear. After looking at it again, it's not quite an 1/8" chunk missing, but more like 1/16". I figures it would need to go back an 1/8" to allow some extra fresh edge. Maybe it will anyway. But not a priority to have repaired ASAP.
I've only got the cost of a couple take out pizzas involved here, so the whole purchase is more about the excitement of ownership rather than having a pristine collectors example. Eventually I WILL get it up and running.
Cleaned off the thick grease last night and the blade is polished like a mirror. There are 2 very small discolored spots, but no scratches or evidence of being honed or scratched.
Still very much dig the Dubl Duck purchase.
Thinking my scales look a lot lighter in color than most others I've seen in photos. Do they yellow out with light exposure or something? Mine almost seem like they are white, but have that "cracked ice" effect. My guitar teacher called it "Mother of Toilet Seat" on laptop guitars...

Here is my favorite acrylic material to make or replace MOP scales:
Golden Gray-SPINDLE
As finished
This stuff does require that you cut across the correct axis of the blank to get the most color.

This is very much a one off. An 8/8 spike ground, finished, and gold plated by Revisor. Thomas, Günter, and a friend of theirs made this. It is the most perfect razor made after the war that I have ever seen. I cannot say just how grateful I am for it.

PS Before you churn out crazy money on eBay, check out Revisor's Christmas special. They make stellar razors.

Here are my Ducks in Order. Picked up the DD 1 on Ebay and it is in great condition. Square point and the blade and scales are spotless. A little work on my Escher, chromium Oxide paddle and English leather paddle and it shaves smooth and close. I just picked up the golden edge and it was advertised as used but if you look at it and the box it looks new. Again, same procedure as above and what a great shave. The Goldenedge is really amazing and looks brand new. I find the DD'sAttachment 235656Attachment 235657Attachment 235658, Genco's and some of the older razors really shave and hold the edges amazingly well.

These can't compete with an original Reaper but so glad to have them and rescaled by 10Pups.
