Goedecke & Co. GmbH. Solingen-Merscheid: Kölner Strasse 144 in 1908, Beethovenstrasse 258-60 in 1939. 'Mandarin' (1898) Looking at their other brands, I'd place it before WW2, maybe even WW1.

Definitely not original. Sorry, but the scales look like a cheap aftermarket costume job. On the up side, the original Dubl Duck scales are every collector's nightmare, because they're made from celluloid, and therefore prone to discolouration (if anyone loves that beige, well, it used to be bright white), warping, and, of course, gassing.

Picked up a Special No 1 and a Dwarf last weekend at the flea market, decent price for some dirty, slightly frowning, Bresduck period blades. I've been looking for some user grade ducks that weren't priced like they were NOS Wonderedges for awhile now and I finally have them!

Those are definately original scales. They have a sort of translucent depth which photos don't show. Nice grab. If you look back in the thread I have 2 posted and I think Spedur has 1 also :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.
