You might try some 0000 steel wool with some WD-40 or any other penetrating lube. I have done it & been successful.
Phil, I hit one I have that has acid etch this evening. I couldn't remember if I ever tried it so I did it lightly at first & it was ok so I did it some more & it came out better. It seems to have some kind of water stain on it that won't come off & is very faint after I hit it with the Mothers. I would show it here but it isn't a Boker. It is a Frederick Reynolds with a Masonic etching.
