Here's a W&B that Hopefully Will Never Shave Again.
Blasphemy you say? Perhaps
I picked it up knowing that it had been re-ground but knew that for the purpose that I had in mind it would fit the bill.
After a TON of sanding to blend the regrind into the original blade (thus removing any trace of the original stamp) then work on my buffer it's ready for Display.
THAT'S RIGHT! 'DISPLAY'.
When my friend Ski and I are done, it will be displayed at the Eastern Washington Agricultural Museum. My Great Grandfather homesteaded there, it's my birthplace and what I consider 'Home'.

Regrind on a frameback? Usually the metal is so thin on a frameback that i dont know how that could even be accomplished

Yes my friend, that's indeed the one. I've been slowly (Un-Godly Slowly) collecting everything that I need to finish the project. I'll be taking some time off next month and my woodworking friend and I will finish up the display. I'm hoping to make it look like a section of a bathroom wall complete with a small mirror, a shelf to hold the razor (secured against sticky fingers) a cup and brush and the strop (also secured). I'll post pictures when it's done.
I can't thank you and my other friends who have so willingly helped make this idea in my head become a reality. :Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

There are different 'types' of framebacks. The one that I posted a pic of was a heavy grind so it was no problem. You could still see the upper 4th of the original writing;
The Celebrated Razor
Now the Frameback that Owen found during the Battle of Iwo Jima (See my article on the Welcome Page here at SRP) Now that's a horse of a different color!
This one wouldn't be a candidate for a regrind. A blade replacement perhaps
I hope this helps. Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

Thanked: 4206I humbly attempt to join this club.
My first Frameback was and is an eskilstuna and is quite small. I have not had real success with it.
Today this arrived for recovery.
This being a full size razor, I may have better luck.
Will advise.

Looks like a home-run, Mike! Show us a pic of the little fella, too.

Thanked: 4206The pair together. The smaller one is in a set of ash scales I made. One of my first scales, and my first one piece.
I've been cleaning up the new one with some green scotch brite and metal polish before committing to anything stronger. Exposing some of the etch on the blade and the entire tang stamp. Looks to be in lovely condition, so far.
Cheers."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."
