Antiseptic was an advertising ploy. I suppose they justified a new and clean razor as such! Nice one! :D

That's a real beauty! If it's like my Shumates, it'll be a fantastic shaver!
Some interesting Shumate advertisement.

Well I got to shave with my new Shumate Antiseptic last night and I am very, no extremely impressed with it!! I was not expecting such a sweet, easy, and smooooooth shave!!! WOW! Like I said when I got her, it would not cut skin at all. Even with all my force literally, pressing against my arm and slicing back and forth, it would not, could not cut skin!! It literally felt like a butter knife. And it surely wasn't even going to think about cutting a hair!! But after a proper honing and stropping, she shaves like a dream!! I am very happy with this razor! That was one of the smoothest shaves I have ever had. I shall name her Savannah.
All 4 of my shumates are extremely smooth shavers. That's why I have four of them I suppose.
My SafeGuard is one of my favorites. I like them so much I now have two.
Hello all,
I would like to submit my entry into the Shumate Shaving Society-
I recently got into wet shaving as a hobby, and after shaving with a DE razor for awhile I went on Ebay and purchased a case of 4 vintage straight razors, 2 of which happened to be Shumates. One is a Trusty, the other is an Antiseptic Barber, both with some wear, but the blades themselves have been honed and appear to be restorable to like-new. Am I right in assuming that if it says "Shumate Razor Co, St Louis MO" that they were produced prior to 1904? Looks like 2 high-quality peices and I look forward to shaving with them!

The vulcan pictured in manah's post is on its way to Texas to my house. Looking forward to it.
I haven't broken it down and restored it as best I can yet but this is my Shumate Vulcan I recently purchased.
