If you are referring to the Trusty, I don't know. I never saw any like that that change like that in the light. First time for me. I might polish them up with some Mothers & see if the rag smalls like celluloid.

Update on my restore for everyone. Got the scale off (little damage doing it but with only hand tools i figured it would happen). 99% of the rust is gone but some heavy pitting. Noticed some pitting around the blade and some very deep pitting up on the spine. Hand sanding is a pain lol. Still trying to figure out how to post pictures using only my phone.
1911 small article about Shumate's Tungsten razors.

Here is my offering to the Shumate Society, picked it up this weekend. It does not shave well, but have a couple other razors ahead of it for the hones. I haven't seen scales like this, think they're original? Honestly, I haven't had time to check this thread for them....

RAZOR MUST BE ABSOLUTELY FLAT!!!!!!!!!!
I believe they are original dinnermint. I have seen some like that before on Shumate's. You can usually tell by looking at the pinning if it appears to be the factory pinning but that's no guarantee since I have seen some do pinning better than the makers.
I have an heirloom Shumate (my grandfather's) with those same scales. Pretty sure he didn't replace the originals with a chipped set that coincidentally matches yours. It's a great shaver, too! Nice find.
Excellent, I kinda thought so. The pinning looked almost too good. It's better than almost any of my razors, except for one that looks like it was refurbished 40-60 years ago. I'm pretty excited to get this one on the stones, dead flat and no hone wear. Probably just a little touch up will get it in great shape.
Exactly! That is how I now have three razors very similar with the same type of scales. The two on top are Novelty straights & the bottom one is a Clauss which is slightly lighter in color. The scales were from the same time period.
