Thanked: 13245The "Shumate Shaving Society"
Gentlemen I would like to invite you to join yet another Razor Club "The Shumate Shaving Society" I know most of you actually have one of these underrated razors in your collection.. Whether you say Shoo-mate or Shoo-ma-tee the results are the same a great shaving little razor....
Information on the company is right here
SHUMATE RAZOR CO
Austin, TX until 1904, then St. Louis, Missouri
ca. 1900 - 1920 SHUMATE CUTLERY CO
St. Louis, Missouri
ca. 1920 - 1932
Most of the razors we see are from St Louis but I would love to see some pics of the rare TX made razors...
The Shumate's I have seen break down into 3 groups...
The named razors.... Tonso, Shuraco, Newport etc: down to the most common Dollar razors...
The second group is the Numbered razors the 027, 650, etc:
And the well known third group of the Barber series the Deluxe, Authentic, and Antiseptics...
Please feel free to expand on the information here and post yer pics of your favorite Shumates, and take your place among the Society of Shumate Shavers....

I've owned a Shumate for more than a year now and have never used it! I guess I'll have to break out the hones and give her a try!
If I remember, I'll post pictures later!

Thanked: 44This one is a "safety" straight razor. That "d" ring swivels to protect your skin. I will take better pictures after it is restored.
