I like stub tails, especially the well-preserved/restored ones. Somehow almost all of them are Sheffield made. There even was a rant about it, probably mine, earlier in this thread (or was it in the 1700's show?). So I'm usually very happy to find something different - like this one.

This is a lovely piece, quite heavy .. Again having trouble finding out its origin.
It might be from Ireland is the best i've heard so far.

Very nice thin horn scales and the coffin is quality.

Hopefully i'll start restoring it this weekend.

Looks like it’s a slight misstamp of Paine & Simpson.

They had an outfit in London for decades at 29 High-street, which now appears to be a Barclay’s.

Over the years they were listed variously as comb-makers, hardwaremen and cutlers.

It’s only the oldest listing I saw that says they were cutlers, that was from 1814, which is about right for the razor.

It looks like Alfred Simpson was of the same clan and worked for them later on.

There are a goodly number of search hits on a wide variety of items that probably all went through their shop, but I feel pretty confident in the ID.

Barclays? It could mean Barclay square... High streets we have many . I will have a look now i know the maker.

I did find Paine & Simpson 29 Borough.
This I would say is referring to Borough High St SE1.
Just over London Bridge.. They have lots of great street food, a cathedral, a ship (Golden Hinde). Also the site of terrorists with machetes.. woops.
Opposite is The Shard building. I could go on..

That's the address that Google Maps showed me is currently a bank.

They seem to have stuck around there for a while, though later listings said 29 High Street.
