NOS kawashima razor, shave ready out of the box, 30-50 years old, amazing shaver. HHT - no stropping, no honing prior the test. Pretty impressive.

Nice razor, such a heavy grind for a Japanese razor most unusual as the Japanese do like their full hollows, so do I :-).

I have seen quite a few near wedges, not unusual at all.

I have an H. Diamond heavy grind that I just love

I know what you mean Stefan regarding heavier grinds but as a general rule even looking back through these posts full hollows tend to be the rule of thumb for good Japanese razors as they will always out number those by quite considerable numbers.

My entry into the kamisori world. I just received it and I'm delighted to be able to start using it. This is a Mizuochi-san Iwasaki Kamisori with a 50mm blade, a width equivalent to a 6/8, and a wisteria covered handle. The hagane (inner) is Swedish SK-2 Steel (ultra-high carbon steel, with a carbon content of 1.15% - 1.25%), while the jigane (outer) is soft iron. This one was made in Sanjo, Niigata Prefecture, Japan...Good news is that I also have a Takahashi Kanetake kamisori on the way...

As promised...Takahashi Kanetake kamisori. Another 50mm blade ("icchou-gake" size), with inner "hagane" made of shirogami "white" 1 steel (1.25% - 1.35% carbon content, placing it in the ultra-high carbon steel category), and an outer "jigane" of iron. This razor was made by Mr. Norikazu Takahashi in Miki, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan.
