    My last acquisition. I'm wondering if there is a way to bring back the color to the scales and are they safe?

    I posted a reply to your question on FB, but here goes again for those that are not members of the group andmay run into similar situation.
    The scales are Bakelite, it discolors like that from aging. First try metal polish and see if it will restore the original color, if not then sanding will clean it up for sure.
