As usual, mail from Japan is super fast, and this Iwasaki I picked up from the fancy pants Japanese seller just arrived. I will take some 1k through 3k grit sandpaper to clean it up. Still sharp, so may not have to reset the bevel, may just go down to 4k and up, we'll see once it hits the stones.

It's 1/4 hollow, more wedge than hollow, very heavy blade, 6/8 as a nice surprise and here's a pic right out of the envelope:

Iwasaki 30, H6 stamped on the reverse side of the tang, 6/8, not bad for $31.00

I was expecting to spend the entire weekend going crazy trying to hone this, but onimaru55 was absolutely correct (great geometry on the Iwasaki's). This razor was straight as a ruler and perfectly flat, in fact, was the easiest and most rewarding straight razor I've ever honed from bevel set to finish.

Really like the wedge version of the Iwasaki, fantastic smooth shave. There is some hone wear at the toe of the razor, but it was just a wide bevel, the bevel is set straight across now, and was actually a pleasure to hone - textbook honing every step of the way, was nice to finally get one that went like that. Here it is all cleaned up and honed.

From my SOTD plus another pic of this Iwasaki 30, H6 razor.

    Nice job Andrew, .
Looks like a nice razor for the kit. Always gratifying to bring one from bevel up on through the numbers, specially when they behave..
    Enjoy..

    Nice one Phrank.

Iwasakis are wonderful to hone, glad yours was too. I love the white scles too, you don't see them that often.

    Hello Mark.
I hope this razor will take the top place in your collection . I did my best honing it , though it wasn't easy. It's challenging to hone a razor with the blade shape like this .Well if the shaving is too harsh for you you know what to do
