I find this a super nice razor.
may I ask you shave it as it looks??
I'm thinking about buying this. but not too sure about the size of the razor.15/16 is pretty big I think sohttp://www.wacker-rasiermesser.de/images/1046a.jpg
Time for my second entry into the Wacker Fanclub! I got this razor from John at ShavingShop.com (which is also where I borrowed the picture until I can take my own). It shaves like an absolute dream; possibly my ATF!
Here is a pic of the three amigos er.... Wackers that I have:
Here are my 2 new and only Wackers. 6/8 red head and a 7/8 Jungmeister Beautiful razors. Fantastic quality.
I've loved the 6/8 1/4-hollow so much, I wanted more. Dylan was right: if you buy a wacker, you'll buy more wackers. 'Just pulled the trigger on the 6/8 stosser wedge and the worked back 15/16 hollow. John mentioned that 7/8 and above, the hollows felt more stiff than in the smaller blades. I thought I'd find out if that was the case for me. Each one has stuff I don't like. The wedge has the funky graphic & writing - plain polished horn would look more elegant. I don't like round points, but do like the worked spines. 'Don't like gold pimping that disappears in a month or so. But if you want it your way, do a custom (I'm on R.Williams waiting list).
As the above post indicates, John thought that 7/8 and taller were more stiff than the smaller full hollows, and more pleasing to those generally sticking to the heavier grinds in the shorter blades. I have some edge work to do on the new 15/16, but first impressions are that he's right. It's still hollow, still vibrates & flexes, but no where near as much as any 5/8 or 6/8 hollow I have. I had given up on hollows, but this one may be one I keep.
The other blade is that 6/8 stosser wedge. I expected it to be wonderful. It is. 'nuff said.
Well,
I am late to the party...but better late than never. Here's one of my Wackers...The 6/8" Wickinger:
Attachment 48457
I got it from John Crowley (Thanks John).
I will post pictures of the other two later when I get a chance to hunt the JPEGs down
'Just used the old sheffield stosser yesterday, and its just wonderful. JimmyHad mentioned he liked the 6/8 wedge from the 2 razor set more than the 1/4 hollow.
On the german site, there are additional scale designs that we don't see stateside. I remember looking at the wikinger and thinking: okay, it's not traditional, but rather interesting.
'Hope it treats you very well.
I have quite a few, but only photos of a couple.
