is there a difference in steel NY vs PA?
    or difference in workmanship?

i only have one from NY

and prefer the blades on the the Bradford, PA manufacturing

maybe i need more NY versions to compare.....

    Default A first restore Genco

Gotta put one more Genco in the club. This was my first restore, a Registered I found at an antique store. The handle really caught my eye. Removed the blade and sanded it to 2000 grit with a Simichrome finish and left the top and bottom of the tang with the original surface (light polish with Simichrome to help preserve the metal) to leave some of it's history. The wedge pin is still original. Hope I got the pics in correctly.

The PA blades were made by Case, who bought the rights to the name after the Geneva NY plant was shuttered. So you can bet the steel, heat treat, etc. is all different-- but certainly very good.
