Hi all, first time to post here.
It's my first foray into real straight-edge razors. I have used a straight-edger with replaceable blades before, but I couldn't get around the fact that I was still wasting money on blades every week.

I got onto some auctions and got very lucky and picked up two Dorko razors at a VERY reasonable price.

A question about the bottom left one though. I am assuming that in the past someone damaged it toward the heel of the blade and just decided to grind it up into a shorter blade? Or did they actually make the razor like this originally? The shape reminds me of Japanese traditional style razors, so it's not outside the realm of possibility that someone just wanted to have a shape he was more used to.

The short one is a Dorko 14, the longer one is a Dorko Premier 43.

Both of them will likely need serious sharpening/honing but I was also lucky in that I just found a bucket full of sharpening stones ranging from ultra coarse to what appears to be around 8000 or 12000 grit, almost clay-like sharpening stone. Kind of a perk to living in Japan I guess. I have a lot of natural-tan hide leather as I make leather projects as a side business, is it possible to use the back of a piece of cow leather as a strop or is that just something from the movies?

    Appreciate any advice/help.
