A new acquisition on my part, I’ll have a lot more to say about it later over in Show & Tell, but it seriously belongs here!

A modest dressing kit by the Mosley family, circa 1847-1855. All original. Sterling silver pencil / pen combo, silver plated accessories. Razor scales are bone with pique work. Razors made by Henry Hobson & sons.

You know how often I say generic razors can’t be traced to a manufacturer? This is an incredibly rare example of that not being true.

Good LORD, that is amazing. I'm so jealous right now...just WOW. Where did you find it?

Now I really want to get a 7 day set, it’s been on my want list for a while!
I'm trying to "assemble" a 7 day set as well! With some sort of a 'theme' too, the hard part is getting a nice vintage box to keep it all in. Sure I can get/fashion a modern one, but vintage is more fun.

I put this Joseph Allen set together earlier this year, all in ebony one piece scales. Someone called it a working man's set, which I thing is a fair description as I am one.

Oh that is a fun idea, the 7 day set and space for the brush and stuff too! I love the "BUILT...REBUILT" label as well. Did you make that box yourself then?

Really classy set. Everything is well-designed and finished. It seemed to be a top-class fabricant.

It was a private deal I'd been working on for about 6 months.

I assume you mean the weird-looking metal tools strapped in over on the right side of the main panel?

Those are boot-pull multi-tools. One has a (broken) buttonhook, the other has a sort of specialized punch to help lace things up. They unfold and offer sturdy bars with a hook on the end that you can use to pull your boots on.

Wow they thought of everything! this is probably a good question for another post but: I wonder what would be included in a gentlemans kit of today?

Hmm. I mean that has so much stuff, so if you wanna go all out then...

    1. A DE, ofc.
    2. Brush and some kinda of shaving soap/cream in a refillable tin.
    3. A "Desktop Charger", u know one of those things with multiple charging ports? I'd say to be useful to everyone at least 60W, and 3 ports. Hopefully at least one port is USB-c
    4. 2 USB charging cables with magnetically attached interchangable ends (USB C, and lightning). Obviously in a braided and in a leather pouch.
    5. Small Swiss army tool.
    6. OH OFC, embedded into the all wood box itself (and ofc removable if you want) is a 20Ah portable battery.
I'm sure there's more stuff. You know what, let's get some ideas out there and make this a reality!!
