I second that. The simplicity and cleanliness of the design are quite striking.
Here is a photo of my Livi, one of the "New Grind" series produced for Straight Razor Designs, and one of several Christmas presents to myself:
The scales are made of an exotic wood called Ambiona and are unfinished. Any woodworkers out there care to suggest a treatment?
My wife is wonderfull! Christmas 2009 and this Mastro Livi was mine...

Now that my friend is really nice. Your wife did well.

Got my first Livi a month ago. Just a blade, I wanted to make the scales myself. I had some particularly nice buckeye burl.
Blade is 8/8 Bergam damasks, my own blade design. Scales are buckeye burl with epoxy resin. I will be turning a matching brush some day. To busy with orders for other folks right now.
Cannonfodder: Wow! That is a nice one! God job on the scales.
Wow!! Dave nice scales, I love the wood. The whole razor is awesome, way to go.

I can see another one in my future. I think tekada steel next, maybe shaped like a katana, a smile with a sway back and tanto style point. Make some snake skin scales for it, or traditional leather woven over wood like a katana handle may look interesting. But I have to refinish a few hundred more razors to earn that one.
Cannonfodder: That last pic made me swear out loud in awe. That truly is a tremendous piece of work, on both your parts. :bow
