Thread: Die Revisoren (Revisor razors)

'Made a BIG error this morn, though I had help. A forum member sent a Revisor 6-034 for honing. Although I love nice spine work, this one was unadorned, but breathtaking in its clean, simple form. It had chips towards the heel that had to be ground out, bevel reset and full honing. I would describe it as one of those blades that WANT to take a great edge. It certainly did, with no fussing at all. The error was the test shave. Ohhh. my wallet is in mortal danger. That was just a magnificent shave by a beautiful razor. I guess my RAD is not entirely dead. I was contemplating a Friodur, which is a fine razor. I think I need the Revisor before the henkels.
MrSell was absolutely right (again) - they are exceptional shavers.

I feel your pain (or our wallets pain) Robert, they're nice shavers. Here's one of mine two (fourth I've owned this far):

Sigh. Sent the inquiry email today.
They don't return from vacation until 9/5, so I got the automated response on their being closed. I hope the mail msg is retained for when they get back.
Mikael, I love your razor rest there!
The shoulder on your razor is pretty uncommon. I've only seen it on one other, a Henry Sears & Sons 1865, which I think was made by Wilbert. So you have a big head start on me with Revisor. I hope I can remain satisfied with just one.
Indesio: would you describe the dissatisfaction as being the edge? Quality issues? Just that a 6/8 is not as natural for you as the large blade? (for me, 6/8 is ideal). Would love to hear your thoughts on that one. Its quite striking.

Thanked: 39I got a revisor a few months ago. I was so impressed, that I got another one recently. It's a 6/8 shoulderless spike and it's incredible. Best shave I've had so far.

Thanks Robert! I hadn't noticed, but it looks different now when I look at it again. I belive it's a vintage one though, so prob not in production ... But you never know with them, they've got many things in their old store and it's been a family thing for at least two generations (son runs the place now and the father still work there, now and then).

Thanked: 3After reading the past 6 hours it looks like my first purchase will be a Revisor.
It doesn't look like there are many dealers in the U.S. that stock these so I sent off
an email about the purchasing process.
So many to choose from though...

The only way to buy our razors is our website. We have no distributers, resellers etc.,
we like to have the direct contact to our customers.
Best regards
