Tomb of the Unknown Razor
A club for those unmarked razors that need attention as well
I'm sure I'm not the only one that has a few razors that deifies being identified. Be they unmarked or stamps that go nowhere.
Maybe even have a chance to ID some of these blades from their exposureLast edited by DwarvenChef; 06-05-2010 at 10:57 AM.

The top one looks like a W&B that just sold on ebay, Item number:200476753353, here. I wanted him but the spirit was willing that the wallet is weak. The stub tails frequently have undecipherable nomenclature IME. Nice pair.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I have seen Greaves and Joesph Elliot razors that closely match the first one. The second looks like a Roberts Warranted that I have, but I have seen many old razors that look like that one.

Man, too many in both of those styles to really KNOW who made them! It will probably remain a mystery- which isn't a bad thing!

These are the only things I got to go on lol Narrows it down to somewhere on this planet These may never be ID's but I don't care they are great razors
I just thought it would be a cool club for those that don't have a club of their own

Aha ! I have one that belongs to this club ! I though it was a Boker, but alas !!
It says "MBC special" on one side of the tang, & "Made in Solignen Germany" on the other, and "426" is also stamped.
Can't wait to hone it & give it a try.

Hey DC -- sorry I missed this thread.
Just won a razor like the first one you posted. One of my first heavy wedges and I just need to finish pinning it and honing it before use. Gonna post some before/after pics eventually, but for now here's the eBay image (item: 220610729902):
Pressed horn scales that say Geo. Savage & Sons -- after unpinning it my amateur opinion is that these scales are original to the razor. Also got a decent Pipe and a tiny Temperite in the auction to boot.

Oh dear you unpinned the Savage? Savages are quite rare, as the company only existed for a few brief years in the 1840's. I have never seen one in pressed horn scales, indeed I have seen only a handful of their razors and have had only three in my possession. Temperites are something of a mystery to me - I know some were made by Case, but I had one that said something to the extent of Forged in England or some such and did not have any stamping by Case; perhaps a transfer of trademarks?

The Case says "25 | Temperite | Trade Mark" on the front of the tang, and on the rear it says "Made In U.S.A. | By Case". But this is a discussion for another thread.
The Savage was fun and you've inspired me to pin it tonight and take pics before honing and shaving with it. I just posted details and various before/after pics in The Gallery here:

Here's a teaser to amend my previous picture taken from eBay -- tang was unmarked before I did anything to it:
