    Default The Nimble Precisionists

Often overlooked, the smaller blades are still great when you need clear-cut, precise grooming, and now the time has come to remedy the neglection of these minuscule pieces. This is the place to post your pictures of blades 4/8 and smaller. So dig them out, let's see them, your slim slashers, your nimble nibblers, the humblest of your straight-cutters.

I'll take this opportunity to open the show with a 3/8 J. A. Hellberg of Eskilstuna, Sweden. It is a model 42 in vulkanite scales. It is a very nice shaver, surprisingly steady for it's size, and so small there is virtually no need for a coupe de maitre under the nose.

(the grayish film across the name stamp is just oil residue that I did not manage to wipe off thoroughly enough before taking the pics)

Next we have a 4/8 Klas Törnblom of Eskilstuna, Sweden, bone scales. It is 3/8 at the heel, 4/8 at the widest point. Like most swedish steel it takes a very keen edge and shaves great.

I find my wakamisori razors offer all the precision I need these days but I have fond memories of these 2. A Helje Mk24 & a Nowill & Sons both a tad over 4/8. Awesome little blades.

    Default I've seen Freddy Kruger!!

The tiny blades scare me. I've used a 4/8 successfully, but it takes alot of care for me when it plows into the heavy growth.

And yet, I've spoken with several that find them easier to control. That being the case, they certainly deserve a thread & likely we'll see some blades we didn't know existed.

    Whack dem wiskers little blades!

Here are a couple of keepers I have, Henkels 4/8 from my grandfather and a DD styledge, my first razor recieved. Not the first I bought just the first one to arrive

I'm firmly camped in the heavy razor department, but these are special to me

Thanks for posting guys, keep them coming. It's not that I don't enjoy the larger choppers, I certainly do - but that's just not a reason to disregard the smaller ones. So keep them coming, there's lots of fine little shavers out there that fits the bill - show them to us

That Nowill & Sons you got there is an awsome looking razor, Onimaru! Love the color of the bone. And DwarvenChef, that Henkels with a family tie you got there is brilliant, wish my family had any straights they kept through the years but it doesn't seem like it.

    Next please!

Here is a beauty of a 4/8 Challenge Razor Works MOP tang I restored about a year ago. It was one of my favorites:

Here is a Emil Blasberg 4/8 'Kerry-Gow' that is one killer shaver:

Here is one of my 4/8 Spikes (many I have are 9/16 but this one is 4/8)

I have several others as well, I love the 4/8's. I even have a 3/8 Wostenholm that I haven't restored or honed yet. Had it for over a year too!

I just thought I would revive this thread since it had been a very long time since anyone joined this one!

    Here are my submissions mates!!

    Enjoy...
