I believe that the scales are made of spalted maple.

They do indeed look to be made of Spalted Maple. One of my favourite woods.

WOW! That is beautiful! I am still new to this game and that's currently a little outside my price range for my current skill level. I am hopeful that one day I will have one (or several) like this. Good luck with the sale!
