Thanked: 0Hi there,
I'm brand new to straight shaving. Would this be a good beginner razor? I want to try something a little less expensive before starting to shave and hone the heirloom razors that are currently being restored.
If this is not a good beginner razor, can you recommend something else, or some things to look for?
Thank you!

Thanked: 59I heard somewhere for newcomers to start with a 5/8 size razor when I started. I had much better luck in the beginning with something large like this, a 6/8. I would go for this one, especially because it's a Blue Steel. I sold one awhile back and wish I had it back, some damn fine steel. Plus, look how clean this one is...
