Early 6/8 Stubtail (Sheffield?) Spanish Point, New Horn Scales, Shave Ready
***SOLD***
Offering an early 6/8 stubtail razor marked 'Concave' with Spanish point. I think this is a Sheffield piece from the early 19th century, but don't know for sure. The blade profile is similar to a rattler or false frameback, with a round spine and thin wedge blade. The scales are black horn replacements and the lead wedge is original. There is a minimal amount of staining and light pitting on the blade but not near the edge, as well as a light scratch or two. The 'Concave' tang stamp, which is the only marking on the razor, is quite clear.
The razor is freshly honed on Japanese natural stones using a full Asano Mikawa Nagura progression (Botan, Tenjyou, Mejiro, Koma) and finished with Tomo slurry and then plain water. Honing was done using two layers of tape.
