Thread: FS: Dovo Stainless/Inox Genuine Mother of Pearl 5/8, full hollow

This was one of the high-end models (along with the Bergischer Löwe, Prima Klang, and Mammut) that Dovo made for several years around 2008.

It has the stainless steel or INOX full hollow blade No.41 that was also used on a cheaper version with plastic scales. However this upscale model has genuine mother of pearl scales made from a single slab.

As far as I know these are not coming back. When Dovo discontinued the model, they used the leftover small pieces of MOP that were not large enough for single-piece scales to put on top of metal liners as segmented scales, and I believe those were a little cheaper, but that was the end of that production.

It comes in its original blue metal box, and as you can probably see from the photographs the blade is oiled (and has some dust in the oil), but otherwise is in virtually brand new condition. With all my razors I've probably used it less than half a dozen times.

The razor is shave ready (probably finished on an Escher) and I will be happy to rehone it a few times if the buyer doesn't do their own honing (beyond that I think every straight razor shaver ought to learn to maintain their razors).

Beautiful razor. I believe that since the Philippines banned harvesting of their large shells, these will be the last razors made with single piece, MOP scales.

I know that when Dovo discontinued the production of genuine MOP scaled razors there were rumors that it is supply issue with the material not limited to them and Livi stopped offering mother of pearl scales at the same timeas well.

In any case, this razor retails for about $200 with plastic 'pearlex' scales.
