Default Wade & Butcher 11/16 Spike Point--Faux Ivory Scales--Price Reduction

For sale is a Wade & Butcher 11/16th spike point razor, about 1/2 to 3/4 hollow ground by my best estimate.

I did the restoration work. The blade was hand sanded to a mirror finish and then a satin finish applied to the face of the blade. The scales are replicas of the original made out of faux ivory. The scales are sanded to 600 grit, which in my opinion leaves a nice matte look and shows some grain that enhances the ivory appearance. The spacer is made of the same material. Double stacked and polished brass washers and rod pin it together.

The razor bevel is set with two layers of 3M tape on a Chosera 1K, and then honed on Naniwa SS 5K, 8K and 12K. Final touches with light laps on .5 micron diamond spray coated felt strop. Then plain felt and leather stropping on modular SRP strop. Test shaved with two days of beard growth. It is what I consider shave ready--ymmv, especially for the natural stone folks.

This is a spike point razor in every since of the word! I am not recommending this blade as a "first razor" for somebody who is new to straight razor shaving. I've also found that the edge does require more frequent touch-ups as it is very fine and the steel is really thinly ground, so I recommend that the buyer have at a minimum a finishing hone and/or sprays/pastes for touch ups. I have a medium-heavy course beard. Those with a heavy course beard may also find that its just not enough steel to get the fullest performance out of the razor. I state these caveats because I want the new owner to be pleased as it brought me a good deal of pleasure restoring it.

Asking $135 + $7 for USPS Priority Shipping in CONUS. Sorry, but I won't ship internationally (but you can have a trusted mate in the States buy and ship to you). PayPal preferred method of payment. Please ask any questions. Will go to first PM received. Please feel free to ask any questions.

Still time to get an offer in before I take this one off the market and return it to the rotation.

Is this razor still available? I just joined this forum, and am looking to get into straight razor shaving without breaking the bank. I assume I will like it, but don't want to throw a bunch of cash away if I don't like it. Would you recommend this razor for a nubie? Thanks, John
