Jose Monserrat Pou – Filarmonica Doble Temple 14 - CUSTOM!!!
So, this razor is something to be treasured in a serious collection. It did not have rust or pitting, not re-ground, only polished, but it did have a hit on the very tip which required to shorten the blade about 12 mm. The original scales were not in bad shape either, but I preferred to make custom scales from Costarican Cocobolo.
To clarify (or as a Disclosure), Costarican Cocobolo Tree has been forbidden to cut for almost 20 years now (it was on the edge of extinction for obvious reasons, it is the most beautiful three this country has), so the wood for this scales this come from a piece of that wood that i have had since I was 15 and that i was shaving to do seem carving but at the ed, decided to use for some special items, and it is in fact very difficult to find. The base or display comes from the same piece of wood, and i have received several requests of selling this wood for scales material, unfortunately the amount of wood i have is very very few so nope, i cant sell spare wood, and yes it was legally obtained (more than 2 decades ago).
Now the scales are incredibly smooth and my camera does not really make justice to the elegant luxurious look of this razor, any gentleman will find pleasure in shaving with this unique razor. I tested it for shave and boy, i know you would say this is only sales speech, but those 12 mm less really favor the control you get with this razor... if you are the lucky new owner you I'm sure you will feel just the same when you try it.
The blade is 7/8 wide and 2 11/16 long (measured from the end of the stabilizer to the toe), and the wedge is made of cow bone enhancing the contrast with the beautiful and nicely tight scales.
It is also Shave Ready (for my taste). Honed with one layer of electrical tape on Naniwa Progression: Chosera 1k -> Aotoshi 2k -> Chosera 3k -> Chosera 5k -> Junpaku 8k, SS 12k, and finished in Suehiro Gokumyo 20K. Then stropped on 0.3micron CrOx -> 0.1micron FeOx,As -> Latigo leather -> Japanese Shell (at least 40 laps each)…. A comfortable shaving for me (that means, my beard, skin, technique etc…), but maybe some more stropping is required for your taste. No razor leaves if I have not tested, but no worries, after testing, blade is properly cleaned/disinfected and a thin coat of camellia oil is applied to protect it and safely packed for the travel.
I only use tracked post for sake and peace of mind of both parties (to be covered by buyer), but no worries! if you need cheap shipping, regular international shipping to the US & Canada is only: $5 (but unfortunately it is slow... 30+ business days is what the post office give as estimate time, although sometimes it takes less, it could b more).
If you want it faster, let me know and I can quote different speeds. International shipping rates to other countries might vary just a bit (please ping me to check). Will do my best to ship the next day after payment but else, no more than 3 business days. Payment is expected within 24 hours after commitment.
Price: $165
