Default 6/8 John & WM Ragg - shave ready

Manufactured 1825-1925. Back of blade almost straight with square point and single shoulder. Blade measures approximately 3 x 13/16. On shank “JOHN & WM RAGG - SHEFFIELD, ENG.”. Blade cleaned, polished and honed shave ready. I believe this was used in the medical field to shave thin samples of specimens for microscope slides. One side of the blade is flat and the other side is hollow ground. Black celluloid scales cleaned and polished. Original pins tight. Comes with razor sleeve.

Light coat of oil for protection on blade. Please look at photos as they are best description.

Honing: One layer of electrical tape on spine. Bevel set on 600 grit diamond hone. Then 6000 water stone and finished on 12,000 oil stone, then glass plate. Then stropped on canvas with diamond paste and then leather and disinfected. A $18.00 VALUE FREE

I personally test shave each razor before final disinfection. Shave ready is different to each person. Factors like light or coarse beard or beard length come into play. I have a heavy beard and test shave every razor on a two day growth. If razor gives a close comfortable shave I call it shave ready. If it does not shave right I re-hone the razor.

    Payment due in three days.

U.S. SALES ONLY! Free USPS First Class shipping. If you want to buy the razor PM with shipping address, email and phone. I will PM back with PayPal email address. Will ship when payment received. Will email you tracking number, and my phone number.

    Thank you.

Interesting razor. Does it shave equally well from either side of the blade?

The blade is somewhat similar to a Japanese Kamisori in that one side is flat and the other ground. I have never shaved with a Kamisori, but I understand that you have to shave with the same side of the blade against your face in order to get a proper shave. Is that the case with this razor?
