Charles Macdaniel stub tail 1814 - 1851
A very rare opportunity to acquire a very rare and unique English Stubtail razor from the 1830s, made by Charles Macdaniel of Oxford Street London, considering the razor is more than 180 years old it's in an amazing condition for its age, it's totally original with Ivory Scales and a fine silver rope inlay with a silver wedge, the spine is decorated and the jimping is exquisite the best I've seen, It comes with the original coffin including the name of its original owner, Mr Gardner, I'm sure he could tell more a lot about the razor but he would be more than 200 years old so that's out of the question. yours for £250 including special recorded delivery, the razor is 6/8 quarter hollow the razor is shave ready with a beautiful small even bevel and it centres perfectly in the scales.
I would also be interested in a trade against a MK 32 with Ivory scales, the razor would have to be mint to excellent condition.

I dont know what's more cool, the razor or the fact that you have so much info on the maker. Amazing.

The very street where the razor was made, another piece of useful information regarding the razor, the shop next door to Mr Charles Macdaniel was the business of an Ivory turner so I would imagine he would have sourced the Ivory for his scales.

Macdaniel was at the high end of razor manufacturing in his time. A couple of years ago I had the pleasure to hone and use a detachable blade 7-day set made by him. Beautiful craftsmanship all round.
