Joseph Elliot 13/16 'Silver Steel' Sheffield Wedge for Restoration - Must See Scales!
Here for sale is a project razor that I acquired from another forum member a few years back - unfortunately I haven't had a chance to repair and restore it myself, so I'll let another member get it back up and shaving as it deserves!
This very old Joseph Elliot 'Silver Steel' Sheffield wedge has beautiful curves with its deeply notched point and thumb notch. It has a fair degree of historic spidery rust marks and some scratches from the early stages of restoration which will need to be evened out with further sanding up through the grits. No cracks, chips or issues that I can see with the blade that would prevent it from being honed.
The scales are damaged and loose from the blade, with a section missing from the face side. The pile side is in great condition. Their redeeming feature however is a series of metal escutcheons set into the face scale. I contemplated trying to set these into a newly made horn replacement scale but decided not to - others have successfully grafted new pieces of horn onto old scales so that might be the best way to rebuild this scale without disturbing the inlays.
Comes with a Heiffor coffin case which I restored.
For sale for $55.00 USD. Standard shipping (Approx. $10.00 USD value) is included. This NON-tracked method takes 7-21 working days on average to the USA (for example).
Tracked postage is available when using international courier post, but this is an additional $30.00 USD (I recently discovered the price has gone up again, so unfortunately, I cannot offset this anymore). If you are also in New Zealand please contact me for local rates.
Payment via. PayPal please.
I am a long-time forum member with many successful trades in the past so buy with confidence.
Thanks for looking!
Matt.
