Default Affordable Shave Ready "Wedge" razor

Another no frills razor for those looking to try something new, or just beginning their straights collection.

No manufactures name, just the model "Wedge" stamped in the tang. It does remind me of the Union Cutlery styles though.

Blade is the more modern wedge style, 5/8 square point, with a course finish on the underside of the tang, like very fine jimping. Some spots on blade, but no active rust.

Freshly honed, using my standard Norton 1-4-8 progression and finished on a Nani 12K and ending on a Zulu Grey, just for the change of pace
A nice, smooth, comfy shave (for my face)

    Price $45, shipped CONUS

I'll be posting a few more "$50 and under" shave ready razors over the next week.

    Thanks for looking!

The "Wedge" was one of my first 3 razors. It can take a very nice edge that is easily maintained.
I will always keep one for my personal use.

    That is a bargain price.

Randy, do you perchance know who was the manufacturer of the "Wedge"? They are a nice shave indeed! Too bad nobody seems to be interested in it though.

This does appear to be a slow time of the year for gear sales. Someone told me the action tends to improve during spring/fall.

It looks like a great razor. I think if this was up even a year ago I'd probably be all over it. Hopefully come newcomer sees this and scoops it right up.

From the tang to the shape and material of the scales to the type of wedge grind to the size and even the color of the scales that razor has “Spike” written all over it don’t you think?

What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

Sorry, no info on that. Probably the same razor blank mfg as the Spike razor and a few others. It might be the company that made blanks for the Bowdins wedge razor. It was located in Minneapolis on the same block as Bowdins workshop.... as told to me by Bowdins grandson.

Who knows ? ... maybe Bowdin did private labeling like many others?
