    Default SOLD: A Pretty Sanssouci 11/16

    I don't know much about Sanssouci razors. This one was made in Germany using Sheffield steel. It's a lovely razor and a superb shaver. Shave ready, of course. Whether a pro or a newbie, the razor will do well in your shave den. The pins are tight and the blade closes center. U.S. sales only, please. The price includes U.S. shipping. $105

    I, too, am unfamiliar with them. But that is a nifty looking razor!

    It's lovelier in person, I might add. Most of all, though, it's a wonderful shaver.

    I had a Sanssouci razor a while back and am sorry to say I sold it, a very fine shaving razor. Here is a link with info about where the name came from, very interesting history;

    Thanks for the link. Yes, the name is from Frederick the Great's palace in Germany. I would love to know what cutlery in Solingen actually made the Sanssouci razors. A big mystery to me.

    Some of these interesting brand names have turned out to be made by either C Friedrich Ern or Grah & Plumacher. Robin K might know.

    Some more on "Sans Souci": a user named Greybeard commented on B&B in 2012 that he had seen a razor of this brand that also had "made by Thomas Muller" on it as well. Nothing much seems to come up in searches for this elusive maker.

    Gentlemen,
    What I find especially intriguing is that the razor uses Sheffield steel.

    Could be the reason they are such fine shavers! I have had a few German razors made from Sheffield steel that were smooth, comfortable shavers.

    Yes, that is a good reason.
    In the end, though, I'll probably withdraw the razor by tonight. So, gentlemen, this is your final chance to own this sweet and pretty razor.
