Manufactured mid 1800's. Back of blade hollow with Barber notch tip and single shoulder. Blade measures approximately 3 x 6/8. On shank "JOSEPH SMITH & SONS - CELEBRATED RAZOR - 3415". Blade is a near wedge grind. Blade cleaned, polished and honed shave ready. Light pitting here and there. Honey horn scales sanded, cleaned and polished. Bug bites filled with super glue. New brass pins and washers.

Light coat of oil for protection on blade. Please look at photos as they are best description.

Honing: One layer of electrical tape on spine. Bevel set on 600 grit diamond hone. Then 6000 water stone and finished on 12,000 oil stone, 20,000 Jasper. Then stropped on canvas with diamond paste and then leather and disinfected. A $18.00 VALUE FREE.

I personally test shave each razor before final disinfection. Shave ready is different to each person. Factors like light or coarse beard or beard length come into play. I have a heavy beard and test shave every razor on a two day growth. If razor gives a close comfortable shave I call it shave ready. If it does not shave right I re-hone the razor.

I have bought from Bouschie in the past and will certainly buy from him again. No worries at all.

I have bought a couple of razors from Bouschie and have no complaints, his prices are hard to beat. One of the razors I bought from him was a Joseph Smith & Sons (very similar to the one in this ad) which is a very fine shaving razor.
