Manufactured 1818 -1890. Back of blade hollow with Barber notch tip and no shoulder. Blade measures approximately 3 X ⅝. Faux frameback razor. On shank either "MANUFACTURED BY - WADE & BUTCHER" , or "GEO. WOSTENHOLM" too faint to make out. Jimps bottom of shank. Blade cleaned, polished and honed shave ready. Dark horn scales with silver and mother of pearl escutcheon cleaned and polished. New nickel silver pivot pin and washers. Hairline at pivot end secured with super glue.

Manufactured 1847-1991. Back of blade hollow with Barber notch tip and double shoulder. Blade measures approximately 3 X 6/8. On shank "GEORGE WOSTENHOLM & SON'S - CELEBRATED I-XL RAZOR - WASHINGTON WORKS - SHEFFIELD". Blade cleaned, polished and honed shave ready. Light staining here and there. I believe the blade was etched at one time as a "GR" is still visible. Some previous owner may have cleaned the blade removing the etching. Bakalite scales sanded and polished. Missing tip at pivot end replaced with super glue and Podauk wood dust. New pivot pin and washers.

Light coat of oil for protection on blade. Please look at photos as they are best description.

Honing: One layer of electrical tape on spine. Bevel set on 600 grit diamond hone. Then 6000 water stone and finished on 12,000 oil stone, 20,000 Jasper. Then stropped on canvas with diamond paste and then leather and disinfected. A $18.00 VALUE FREE.

I personally test shave each razor before final disinfection. Shave ready is different to each person. Factors like light or coarse beard or beard length come into play. I have a heavy beard and test shave every razor on a two day growth. If razor gives a close comfortable shave I call it shave ready. If it does not shave right I re-hone the razor.

These razors are not restored to like new condition. They may have some pitting or dark spots none of which affects edge or shave. Please look at photos as they are part of the description. If you have any questions or need more information feel free to contact me.
