Manufactured 1850-1890. Back of blade hollow with Barber notch tip and no shoulder. Blade measures approximately 3 X ⅝. Frameback razor marked on spine "GEORGE WOSTENHOLM & SONS - CELEBRATED I-XL RAZOR - WASHINGTON WORKS - SHEFFIELD". Blade cleaned, polished honed shave ready. Jimps bottom of shank. Dark horn scales sanded and polished. New brass pivot pin and washers.

Manufactured 1850-1890. Back of blade hollow with square point and single shoulder. Blade measures approximately 3 X 4/8. On one side of shank "Pipe Logo", on other side "GEO. WOSTENHOLM & SONS - SOLE MANUFACTURERS OF THE ORIGINAL AND TRUE PIPE RAZOR". Blade cleaned and polished. Tight 3/16" crack about ¼" from tip cannot feel with finger nail. Faux wood celluloid scales with nickel silver end caps.

Light coat of oil for protection on blade. Please look at photos as they are best description.

Honing: One layer of electrical tape on spine. Bevel set on 600 grit diamond hone. Then 6000 water stone and finished on 20,000 Jasper.

I personally test shave each razor before final disinfection. Shave ready is different to each person. Factors like light or coarse beard or beard length come into play. I have a heavy beard and test shave every razor on a two day growth. If razor gives a close comfortable shave I call it shave ready. If it does not shave right I re-hone the razor.
