Makes sense. It came in the black Dovo box, not the blue rounded one. It's my first Dovo so I don't really have anything to compare it to. I definitely notice that the carbon steel is easier to hone than stainless...stainless is a pain in my back lol
I dig the pearl scales as well.

The blade itself is a bit lackluster, anything simple I can do to shine it up a bit?

You could always polish it up but you need to be careful of the etching or it can fade or come off too. You can try some Cape Cod Polishing Cloths. Whatever you try, stay away from the edge.

Thanked: 1195It's fairly well known that Conk razors are rebranded Dovo's. The blade logo looks the same as the ones on any Dovo BQ's that have passed through my hands. You should be fine. It sounds like you have the tools, so just keep tweaking the edge until it's satisfactory for you. If you have a Norton combo you might want to drop to the 8k for a few laps before going back to the 12k.

Just gave it a few more passes on the 12k. It should be near perfect for tomorrow's shave.

I have a friends razor identical to that which I'm hanging onto for him since he has a young son and doesn't want him finding it. Shaved great!!
