It's a great, satisfying feeling, isn't it? I found honing addictive; it was like a gateway drug for me. Once I learned how to set bevels and bring a razor up to shave readiness, it really opened me up to the world of vintage razors and restoration.

I couldn't agree more! I'm totally hooked! Just finished another restoration, I only have a dremel and found that sometimes they can be tricky to use so I have been doing my resto's by hand. Next week I am going to take a shot at making my own scales. We will see how that turns out!

A few hours is not surprising for a Wester Bros Manganese IME. You picked a hard one to begin with so pat yourself on the back one more time for me. In the future I'd recommend you do any further restoration before you hone. Safer to work with a duller blade and less likely to dull a shave ready one. Anyway, good job for a first go.

My journey has definitely began! My girlfriend said I am officially "addicted" to razors and what she calls playing with them! Hahaha I guess its better to be hooked on razors then something like drugs or booze! Besides she just doesn't get it! Who knows maybe I will make a believer out of her one day! I've got to be honest, I got my first straight from my grandmother it was her fathers. I immediately found this site, starting asking around about it, got a recommendation to send it off for honing, got it back from you, shaved with it, and have been totally hooked since!!! So I guess I owe you a Thank You! Thanks Lynn -BRETT
