Thanked: 0The OK razor
Hello all
This is my first post here.
Today i purchased my first ever straight razor. It may well be rubbish, but it was only £12.50 and so i thought no great loss.
Anyway the razor has OG&Co Ltd engraved on one side and The OK razor on the other.
Can anyone tell me anything about this razor? I have googled it, but can find nothing. I'll need to get it honed because right now it's only sharp enough to cut paper.
I would have posted pictures, but i don't know how to, lol
Thanks in advance for any information.

Welcome to the most friendly, helpful and informative site on the web!!
You will find members here of all different backgrounds, ages and occupations from all corners of the world and all with a quest for more knowledge about using and maintaining a straight razor!
If you take the time to search, 99.9% of your questions can be found in the Library (WIKI) however feel free to ask us about whatever it is that you are wondering about or having a problem with. It does help if you’ve done some research before hand so it narrows the problem down a bit.
As far as your razor goes, I found this:
OSGOOD, BRAY & CO
44 Bedford St. and 19 Avon St., Boston, MA
ca. 1901 - 1905
I found it here:
Straight Razor Manufacturers and Dates of Operation
I don't know if it is the same manufacturer.
I hope this is of some help!
Again, welcome! Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.

Thanked: 0Thank you for the welcome cudarunner.
Sorry, i should have mentioned that i had in fact used the resource you've posted there, but nothing is there. All i do know is that the company is from the UK and i know this from the 'Ltd' indicating it's a limited company.

Believe it would be made by Garrett and Co
Osborne, Garrett & Co, Ltd
Razor & Strop Manufacturers
Proprietors of the Kropp, Elmo, Carrara, Ogee & Osgar brands of razors.
51 to 54 Firth Street; 8 to 11 Bateman Street & 35,35 Dean Street London W1;
& at Birmingham, Glasgow & Manchester.
If you look up Ogee razors, you find them with pictues having the O.G.&Co mark. No idea on the age fo the razor without more digging, but I hope it helps.
Matt
BTW, welcome aboard! The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

Thanked: 13245You bought a nice Vintage razor, the condition is much more important then the pedigree..
Yours looks to be in pretty good shape, clean it, hone it, and shave it

Nice Score!
I'm glad you figured out how to post the pics! It took me awhile also!
I agree with Glen!
If you'd like a reference to whom to send it out to for honing, give me a PM!Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.
