1st razor -- International Greyhound??
Acrylic Swirl International Cutlery - Straight Razor Place Classifieds
Can I get some opinions? I've seen lower prices on fleabay. What does experience tell you? I'm obviously new to SRs.
Also, should I keep my eye out for a Double Duck?
Basically, from the info I've learned, I'm not opposed to something from WD, but as I become saturated with helpful info here, I'm learning SRPs classifieds should be strongly considered.
I want a ready to shave razor that won't break the bank.

Thanked: 9The nice thing about buying from the classifieds here is you know you'll get a shave-ready razor. Fleabay is always a gamble. I've gotten some marketed as shave ready that needed complete bevel resets, and others that were wonderful. I don't think you can go wrong with that one. I was eyeing it up myself! Go for it!

Lower prices on eBay usually equates to lower quality and misinformation about the item. For the price it looks darn good, but I am no expert. But I do put my trust in it being in SRP Classifieds. I really can't see a fellow SRP member deliberately trying to shaft another. PM him about return policy and if you buy it and don't like it and he doesn't take returns you can list it yourself. (I'd be interested if you'd shoot me a PM if you buy it and like or don't like what SRP Classifieds have to offer.)

Let me assure everybody that I will *not* be using fleabay, was just looking for a comparison. I am far too ignorant and far too distrustful of ebay sellers.

He has 3 feedbacks that were all positive, looks ok, but I am new. Price is good, under $50 for a shave ready razor is pretty good.
There seems to be stuff around this price reasonably often, but they don't seem to be around long. As razorfeld says check his return policy then provided you are happy give it a go.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Sold!
The last thing I need to cobble together and order is pre-shave oil...

Not necessarily, oil is a love it of hate it, I would try without first and see how you go, unless you are feeling like spending.
I use a vit e based cream before as pre shave and after as a balm, at the moment anyway, I have used glycerol/glycerin as a pre shave, it is also good as a lather enhancer, I have used oil twice I think, the first time I thought I didn't like it, the second time I knew I didn't.
My view is that soap breaks down oils, and in the process the lather breaks down, check out your dish water after washing up a few greasy pans . But that's just me some like it too.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Before you buy pre packaged small amounts of hipped up named pre shave oil look to your kitchen. Olive oil. Yes olive oil. After you have followed and read as many threads of SRP you'll discover the Italians. Pre shave, and often post shave as a balm. Each to your own, but I've tried baby oil, mineral oil, olive oil (but not motor oil, although it might be a sleeper. lol) Some days I feet it enhanced the quality. Some days, eh, not so good. These days I use a technique my mentor introduced me to. On a wet face the first lathering. Rub it in with your fingers. Work at building the lather in whatever your using as a scuttle and reapply lather when ready and shave. Right now, for me, works fine. As the earth turns, so will how I, and almost every one else, probably be doing it in a different fashion next week or so. That's the joy of this little world of stra8 razor shaving.
Enjoy what you decide on and shave safely.

Now where's that synthetic 5w30.... lol.
Good advice. I don't know if I'll use this oil at all though I actually picked up some stuff at Walmart.
UHD deluxe Shave Soap(with Aloe Vera & Shea Butter)
Clubman styptic pencil
Shave Secret (menthol & clove vitamin A and E)
All $5...
That being said, what I'm thinking of ordering:
barbar alum
Musgo Real Glycerine Lime Oil Soap
Thayers medicate Superhazel with Aloe
3" Big Daddy strop from Star Shaving
Silvertip 24mm from WD($22 is good, no?)W
What am I missing? Anything else to consider with the preceeding list?

Walmart "ain't:" all that bad at times. The VDH is good, you might want to get a bottle of pure glycerin next time at Walmart. Add about 6 drips to the lathering effort. Builds better suds. Styptic pencil good but go online tone of the good suppliers and get an alum block. Use it after shave before AS or balm. Wet, rub all over shaved areas. Wait 30 to 60 seconds. Rinse with cold water and dry. Closes pores and nicks and lets you know where you irritated your skin so you can try to avoid doing again next shave. Talked to my mentor about strops and said I wanted to get a 3" Big Daddy and got a strong lecture about they can sag in the middle length wise and not give a good stropping to your razor. I'm sure there are other opinios on that, but had to say it anyway. Just bought two cheap brushes from Turkey and picked up a VDH brush at Walmart and was very impressed with its performance for the price.
