Thanked: 45Great Grandads repairable?
Hey guys just got some razors from my wifes side of the family which I think is her great granddads. Anyway, I would really like to shave with them but am not experienced enough to know if this one is repairable or if it would require too much metal to be taken off to be worth it?
Also, anyone heard of this...I can only make out "Sam....Hill" with letters before and after each? I also have a "Palm" razor which I can't seem to find any information on either.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

That chip at the heel is pretty severe. It could be repaired but you might lose 3/16 in. from the width of your blade. A clearer photo of the entire razor would make an assessment much easier. What do the other razors look like? If they are in better condition it might be more practical to use those and maintain this one as a keepsake.

You could have a go at shortening the length of the blade, rather than the width, by regrinding the heel. But, taking the stabiliser into account, I think that is very difficult. Possible, but difficult to get a good-looking result.
