    The first photo seems like the edge has a "wave" in it.
    I simply would pass on it all together; even at $5.00 it seems like a a lot of work, with no guarantee of a smooth shaver.

    Mattster, You are going to like that razor a lot.
    You might try working it over with a single piece of 600 grit wet and dry sandpaper.
    Cut it into small pieces, say 1 by 3 inch, to make working with it easier.
    Save the worn pieces to finish with as they will act like a much finer grit.

    Wrap those pieces of paper around a wine cork.
