Please help identify this Puma
Hey guys,
I went against all advice and bought off Ebro yesterday. I just happened to login and start looking around and lo and behold there was a posting that was not even 10 minutes old. The gentleman was offering six razors in total for a "buy it now" price that seemed very fair. Five of these razors are vintage Puma Friseur Freund no 1's. I've never had a Puma and all I read is how awesome they are, so I decided to go for it. Surely there is a gem in there. And none of them look beyond my humble restoration skills. One of them has an interesting emblem on the scale that I can't find on the net. Its a Friseur with a bicyclist instead of the Puma and diamond. Anyone seen this before? Do I have a Frankenstein here? I've also included the pics from the seller so you can judge how foolish I was. Somehow it just seemed like a good bet.Last edited by Pikadon; 09-15-2013 at 02:49 AM.

The Puma 'Barber's Friend' is a good old razor. I've got one myself. One of the black scaled razors appears to have the twins logo embedded in the scale. So if it is a Henckles that is also a good razor. I have never seen the bicycle logo before.

Yes, you're right about the Henckels. the blade says " J.A. Henckels Solingen, Z. Willingswerk 70-1/2". That's from the seller description...I haven't gotten the batch yet.
The bicycle logo is really strange. I've never seen it on a Puma before. Thanks for the well wishes. I don't know if its cool to say what I paid, but I spent under $100 for all six. I've blown that much on far more frivolous endeavors.

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

The numbers on the razor...looks like it could have been part of a 7 day set???

Thanked: 3225Yea that could be a possibility I suppose. Thought about that too but they seem too plain to come from a 7 day set. Another thought crossed my mind that they were numbered because they came from a large barber shop and it was a way of keeping track of identical looking razors. Lots of possibilities and fun to speculate on.
No matter which, Pumas and Henckels are noted to be good shavers.
