Question Help! I.D. this unique piece!

I've been trying to buy a straight razor for a while, but i wanted it to be old one that I would restore/ have restored...

Anyway, I was walking around in Philly and found this in an antique shop.

Tang: DEVON MFG. CO. GERMANY I cannot find the name DEVON MFG anywhere on here or the internet...

Blade: Scored and pitted , but it doesn't seem to be much tarnishing... measures between 5/8 and 6/8

Scales: They proclaimed them to be bone, I can't even find pictures or mention of bone scales anywhere... Its definitely not wood though... also faint blue, and pink staining ... wedge is dark wood

Pins: pivot is loose until about 75 degrees open... holds tight after that ... the washers seem tiny, and the pins are the same color tarnish as the tail

any ideas about age or rarity? I would like to have the blade restored and keep these unique scales original ....

Never heard of the copmany, but those scales look like bone to me. You can test them with a hot needle on the inside of the scales. Plastic will melt, but bone will not.

Devon did not make the razor. Most likely they were the ones selling them or handing them out.

Yeah probably. Look at Art of Shaving razors and Classic Shaving razors. They don't make them but they got their name on them and you pay alot more money for it too.

The scales are bone. it's pretty typical looking for bone. That edge doesn't look too good. Maybe the pictures, it almost looks like a crack in the blade.

My eyes aren't the best, but I think there are a couple of nicks/chips along the edge (?)
