Hello, What can you guys tell me about this piece?
I've done a little research on it but I wanted to get some first hand information from some folks who know their stuff when it comes to straight razors.. I found this guy at an antique shop and I paid $65.00 for it.
What would guys say the most accurate date of origin would be for this piece and do you think I over paid. I believe it is in pretty good condition considering its age and even if I did over pay, it was worth it to me..
anyway, thank you so much in advance for any information you can give me..

Thanked: 3227Best guess from me as to date is pre 1891 with only Sheffield stamped on the tang not Sheffield England. Looks to be in decent shape too.

I think the scales are probably toast but the razor looks good.

looks like you done a good deal to me. wipe the scales with neatsfoot oil or i used baby oil because i had it lying around already and leave it to soak in for a couple days then you just have to get that bad boy honed.
