Thanked: 0New razor today
I took a leap of faith and bought a razor from aliexpress(china). Aliexpress.com : Buy free shipping Handle razor STAINLESS STEEL RAZOR from Reliable stainless steel razor suppliers on TITAN monopolization.
It is a good bit heavier that the razor I purchased from Whippeddog. I think it says 92g. It's a 7/8 half to full hollow ground (I am not sure how to really tell). It came with a "fancy" aluminum case with cut foam inside and what appears to be a denim strop. Looks to me to be a very uniform bevel on the blade.
So, I ran it across my poorman's strop 15-20 passes and gave it a shot. I am very impressed with this blade. Very sharp, very smooth. Given that I only have 6 or 7 shaves with any SR, my evaluation may not be all that useful but, I am happy so far with this SR.

Thanked: 0Shaved with this razor again tonight. This seems to be a good razor. Stropped about 15-20 passes the other day after using. Then, another 15-20 passes tonight. I think I'm having a combination of improving technique and decent equipment. Much less irritation tonight. Really concentrated on angle. I was getting way too upright.

There's a Polish seller on Ebay selling them, for £21.

See if a magnet sticks to it. If it's really stainless, the magnet will barely stick or not stick at all.
One time, in band camp, I shaved with a Gold Dollar razor.

Thanked: 0It's not stainless. Magnet sticks the same as my Lee's Radium Gold razor.

Thanked: 14Magnetism isn't a reliable test - although a lot of stainless steels are indeed non-magnetic or only weakly magnetic, it's not true for all. Ferritic and Martensitic stainless steels are magnetic, while Austenitic stainless steels are not.
