    This link may be of some help!

    Rasiermesser

    I purchased my razor in conjunction with a friend who did all of the leg/online work so I'm unqualified to comment on the ordering part!

    As far as coming 'Shave Ready' mine wasn't bad, not great, but very shaveable. After I'd re-honed it it shaves fantastic!

    I bought the Plain Jane;
    6/8

    I'm very, very pleased with mine!

    With that said, my friend found his had a warp to it and it was returned to the factory for examination, it wasn't sent with tracking and it was 'lost' in transit.

    I ordered that exact one think its 6-0022 what beautiful razors they sell. Great vintage company that
    has been resurrected. The company was interviewed in straight razor magazine. Lots of old school original razor makers involved in production. . Looks like bevel is set. By machine not sure.

    You just listed the two issues that would hold me back..WOW.. But still I'm tempted. I would hate to order a razor and it not be shave ready or worse get lost in the mail .

    The only New Razors that I know of that arrive Truly Shave Ready comes from SRD and honed by Lynn!

    It's not that big of a deal to have it honed! As I posted mine would give a decent shave, but with some work it gives a Fantastic Shave!

    If you are brand new to using a straight, I highly recommend that you start with less expensive vintage razor. I have a very good friend who usually has some nice ones and he is an excellent honer! Let me know if I can be of any help!

    You will find that 99.9% of everything about straight razors is 'Personal Preference'!

    As I said, mine gave a decent shave from the factory in fact I've purchased vintage razors advertised as shave ready that wouldn't shave as nice as the factory edge from Revisor!

    If I had to guess it would be some kind of wood. You could always email and ask Revisor.
