Anybody have any idea where to purchase one of these new? There website is horrible prices arent listed .and I can barely navigate the site..
The prices are listed, just click on the razor you are looking at and the price is usually listed below the photo, still I agree it's not the easiest site to purchase a razor off.
As crusader remarked, the Revisor site is not exactly user friendly. Some razors are pictured with multiple views but the price is listed only on the first one shown. To order you must click on the Contact link and send an email with the item number and your location to get an actual quotation. Prices are listed in Euros, of course. The current conversion rate is about 1.3512 USD per Euro but it varies a little from day to day.

I goto, the web site I can't even view the razors?. It just says they are interested in buying razors where do u click to view razors
Try this link. Raritten Vorschau
Thanks for the link, Jamie.
I have had problems accessing their website using Safari. I figured out to type "Revisor rarities" or "Revisor 6/8" in the search window.
Airportcopper-
From the home page, click on "Razors", then on the size that you wish to view, eg- "6/8".

edit: celticcrusader's link takes you right to it
The 'Raritäten Vorschau' consists of their NOS stock and I think some finished grinds of old blanks by various makers (but don't quote me on that). To see Revisor's own razors just click on the sizes in either one (top one is in German, bottom one in English) of the bottom two bars on top, then on the picture, it will give you info and price.
It's not an ideal website, but navigation isn't that much of a hassle, I think. The only hassle is that you have to e-mail them for purchase instead of a more convenient 'add-to-cart' system.
Im looking at there site using a ipad.. There is nothing to click on .. on there homepage anywhere? Just says there interested in razor collections. Mayb I have to use my desktop
Indeed. The site doesn't work on iPad and you have to a computer.
got it thanks for all your help.. just picked one up.. how long does it usually take for shipping ?? and does the razor come shave ready??
Don't know about shipping, but all razors from Revisor are honed by hand, bevel set on a synthetic followed by naturals (as illustrated here). So they should at least shave comfortably, I have heard nothing but positive reviews in this respect.
Just placed the order .. Can't wait to get it..
Fwiw, mine came shave ready, and is one of my favorites. (Got a shoulderless thumb notched 6/8). When I wrote and asked them beforehand About it I was told all their razors ship shave ready.
Grizli
I ordered a similar shoulderless thumb notched 6/8 last year and it was not quite shave ready as it came. It did take a small amount of tuning on the hones to get it where I considered it shave ready. I would not take it as a given that they come completely shave ready all the time. I have to say that once tuned to my satisfaction it shave very well.

I ordered a new 6-0001 today (6/8)!
The process was quite simple. Site is in both Deutsch and English. Email address can be found on the "Contact" section of the Revisor site. Simply email and tell them what Item number it is that you wish to purchase. They sent a prompt email back including a PDF copy Invoice. Make your payment through Paypal at address provided in invoice email (and reference your Invoice number provided in the Notes section on Paypal) and you are all set to go. Can't wait to receive my new Revisor. Interested to see how long it takes. As if that isn't excitement enough, also have a nos vintage No.97 on the way inbound. ~ Andrew
Great thread!!!
I bet their orders just had serious rise today.
I liked this one
Is this considered thumb notched?
Attachment 141855
Yea, that is a thumb notch alright. I have an almost identical Revisor and I love thumb notches but not the one on my Revisor so much. I don't know if they are all the same but the underside of the thumb notsh is rounded on mine and I find it not that great when flipping the razor while stropping. I have other razors with thumb notches that have squared and/or jimped undersides and no problems when stropping them. That is my only small quibble with my Revisor that I have.
Bob
Wow that's a big variety of razors! I could look at that site all day! Yeah it would be nice if they had the shopping cart widget thingie there. Should be easy since they already do paypal.
I received a new 7/8 a few months back and it was anything but shave ready. Under microscope the edge looked like a mountain range. It needed a new bevel for a total re-hone. But it took a nice edge and is a very nice razor. Considering the variety of styles, sizes, and tips, I highly recommend Revisor for someone looking at a new blade. It has to ship from Germany but it only took a few days to get here.
This link may be of some help!
Rasiermesser
I purchased my razor in conjunction with a friend who did all of the leg/online work so I'm unqualified to comment on the ordering part!
As far as coming 'Shave Ready' mine wasn't bad, not great, but very shaveable. After I'd re-honed it it shaves fantastic!
I bought the Plain Jane;
6/8
I'm very, very pleased with mine!
With that said, my friend found his had a warp to it and it was returned to the factory for examination, it wasn't sent with tracking and it was 'lost' in transit.
seems like a pain to order....I sent them an email
I ordered that exact one think its 6-0022 what beautiful razors they sell. Great vintage company that
has been resurrected. The company was interviewed in straight razor magazine. Lots of old school original razor makers involved in production. . Looks like bevel is set. By machine not sure.
The only New Razors that I know of that arrive Truly Shave Ready comes from SRD and honed by Lynn!
It's not that big of a deal to have it honed! As I posted mine would give a decent shave, but with some work it gives a Fantastic Shave!
If you are brand new to using a straight, I highly recommend that you start with less expensive vintage razor. I have a very good friend who usually has some nice ones and he is an excellent honer! Let me know if I can be of any help! :tu
Some say they shave great from factory. . Others say I touch up and go.. all personal preference. .
You will find that 99.9% of everything about straight razors is 'Personal Preference'!
As I said, mine gave a decent shave from the factory in fact I've purchased vintage razors advertised as shave ready that wouldn't shave as nice as the factory edge from Revisor!
Wow cant wait
I'm looking at this one here...6/8
What would you guys say the scales are make of? It doesn't say
Kyle
If I had to guess it would be some kind of wood. You could always email and ask Revisor.
Bob
This link is from Revisor's site/from Spare Parts:
Ersatzteile
Further research shows this:
Bocote | The Wood Database - Lumber Identification (Hardwoods)
I hope this has been of some help!
Nice work! That site is a bit tricky to navigate...
Looks nice though, and I've been yearning for a razor in wood scales for some time now.
Not sure if anyone's read this interview with Thomas the CEO of Revisor but it's a good read and tells you exactly how they hone their razors. Straight Razor Magazine: Interview with Thomas Kronenberg, CEO at Revisor GmbH
I've been drooling looking at the Revisor site for months, and I finally caved.
For a while I've been admiring the elegance of blades with a very straight pattern and a square point, so I ordered one of these.
They've been very quick so far too - I put my order in Sunday evening, my invoice with PayPal details was here early Monday morning and I paid right away, and early this morning I got notification it has shipped together with a tracking number.
With a bit of luck I'll be shaving with it in a few days!
Alan
Still waiting order was placed on the 26.. Kyle did u go with the wood scales.. Noticed since this post revisior razors sales have shot up lol
yes, I got the 6-00286/8...looks like their grenadille scales to me Ersatzteile
Attachment 142343 we'll look what came in the mail today!! I waited to shave til it got here.. The razor is very well made.. The details on the blade itself are just great..had some light scratches on it probably from the honing.. And yes gents it did come shave ready.. I was skeptical.. Before I shaved I stropped on scrub leather 10 times and premium leather 20 times.. It shaved very smooth.. From what I have read they set the bevel by machine then finish by hand on a coticule.. It was a great shave.. I would recommend any body in the market for a new razor to take a look at the revisior I'm impressed!
